An Iowa teenager who shot and killed two fellow students at an alternative school program for at-risk youths last year and wounded the program’s founder was sentenced on Thursday to 65 years in prison, prosecutors announced.
Judge Larry McLellan of the Polk County District Court sentenced Mr.
Walls to three consecutive prison terms, one for each charge, totaling 65 years, according to prosecutors.
He was also ordered to pay $150,000 in restitution to the slain victims’ families, the Polk County Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
All three were students at the program and knew each other, The Des Moines Register reported.
